Laboratorio de Cibermetría at Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (CCHS) is part of the Spanish Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). The lab is, since mid nineties, one of the pioneering groups in the quantitative analysis of the Internet mediated scholarly communication since
mid nineties.

Currently, the research lines of the lab focus on the development of web indicators for description and evaluation of R&D activities. This is part of a fairly new discipline called Cybermetrics or Webometrics. In fact the very first journal on this topic was the electronic journal Cybermetrics that is published by the lab since 1997. The development of the discipline in Europe was mainly possible to two consecutive FP5 projects. CybermetricsLab-CSIC took part as coordinator in EICSTES and a partner in WISER projects.

The members from the lab have taken part in more than 100 International and Spanish conferences, seminars and workshops worldwide and published 30 papers in high impact factor journals. In 2007, the lab was one of the organizers of the 11th International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics
